Get to Know Me

Jen Lints

If you know me you know I do not like to be in front of the camera. I love to capture my surroundings and not be captured with them. However, I want this blog to be very transparent. I want to be able to be vulnerable and share about my passions, my love for fashion and even my short comings.

Where did you grow up?

On a farm in Lancaster, PA.

Starting off with the really important question, what is your favorite color?

PINK, of course.

Where is your favorite place to shop?

Anywhere!!! šŸ™‚ Of course I LOVE Anthropologie but I also LOVE a good deal just as much. I never buy anything full price. When walking into Anthro I divert my eyes immediately and walk back to the sale closetā€¦ Itā€™s hard people!! Honestly though, of course I love the Gap, American Eagle, Target, Old Navy but I also love a good quaint boutique. Most days I think I dress more like a teenager than a middle aged womanā€¦ but my grey hairs balance that out.

Describe your style in three words.

Whimsy, Girlie, Playful.

What is your favorite type of food?

A good steak.

Any secret passions?

I have always dreamed of opening a cute boutiqueā€¦ a little clothing ā€¦ a little decor.

Favorite Devotional?

ā€œNew Morning Merciesā€ by Paul Tripp. If you donā€™t have itā€¦ get it!! Itā€™s a great devotional for busy moms.

Shoes are from Target and can be found here. Jeans are from American Eagle and are on sale, take a look at them here.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?

Hmmm, that is a hard one. Honestly, I am pretty happy right here. Although, if we could figure out how to create a beach in the middle of the country that would be fine by me.

Do you have a favorite thing to shoot?

I honestly love it all. Most photographers specialize in a certain category but I just do not want to box myself in like that. From the first kiss as husband and wife, to the little squishy cheeks of a newborn, the off the wall energy of a two year old and the awkward stare of a senior boy, I love to capture it all. As long as I am capturing emotion and connection I want to be behind the lens. I also think not specializing keeps me fresh and helps my creative juices flowing.

Tell me about your kids.

Logan is 9. The boy who made me a momma. Logan is always up for an adventure and rarely sits still. He is the most tenderhearted guy I knowā€¦ he will drive you bonkers one minute and bring you to tears the next. He has shown me what true love looks like.

Olive is 6. This girl. She has such a care free, happy go lucky soul. Olive skips wherever she goes. She is so creative and is always ā€œmakingā€ something. She also loves to collect things!Ā Likeā€¦ we fear sheā€™s a hoarderā€¦ šŸ™‚

How long have you and Drew been married?

We will be married 15 years this year. Ā This gig would never have happened without him. He believed in me long before I ever didā€¦ he is my biggest cheerleader and best friend. Drew lovingly pushes me to do things I only dreamed of.

Favorite family activity?

We love adventuring and we live in the perfect state to do just that. As the kids get older it has gotten so much easier and fun. I remember when they were younger it would take about 2 hours to get out of the house with all the things we needed to be out in the wilderness for a whole day. When we would make it out of the house it never failed, one kid would end up throwing up and one would end up crying after 10 steps on the trail. Inevitably Drew and I would not be on speaking terms. HA! Now, it is so much different and the kids really enjoy it too!

What made you want to get into photography?

I have always loved design and have been a visual person. When we moved to Colorado I had just had Olive. Drew would come home from work and I would just be crying. I was in this new place, did not really know anyone and just needed something to do. I had just gotten a nice camera to take pictures of the kids and Drew said ā€œYouā€™ve always loved photography, why donā€™t you try it out!ā€. The more I learned about my camera and lighting the more I fell in love!

What type of camera do you use?

Canon Mark iii 5D

Is there anything you want to shoot that you have never shot before?

New Zealand! Elopementā€¦ Anyone???

Do you have a favorite place to shoot?

I grew up in Lancaster PA and I adore that light. The golden hour there is amazing. Colorado Springs golden hour is literally 3 minutes. The sun sets over the mountains so quickly.

Finally, any tips for people just starting out?

Practice, Practice, Practice! Take your camera everywhere. And just be confident in what you are doing and your style. Sounds cheesy but confidence is key when your shooting!
